Mebratu who had hoped to pick three points from the tie and put his country’s AFCON campaign back on track has blamed poor tactical concentration for his side’s loss.“We conceded the first two goals because of lack of concentration. In the first half we were not okay and we did not play well, but we improved a bit in the second half. But, wecouldn’t score and that was the problem,” the tactician said.Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga attempts to find a way past Ethiopia’s Anteneh Tesfaye and Aschalew Tamene during a 2019 AFCON qualifier at the Kasarani Stadium on October 14, 2018. Congratulations to Kenya and I think they deserved to win.”Pending on a decision from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over Sierra Leone’s participation in the qualifiers, Ethiopia remained second in the standings with four points off four matches while Kenya moved to seven at the top.If Sierra Leone are booted from the qualifiers, Ethiopia will remain with a point and will work to beat Ghana at home and hope Kenya beats Ghana away for them to have a chance of qualifying to next year’s Cup of Nations.Nonetheless, Mebratu hopes that Sierra Leone are admitted back into the qualifiers to ensure they hand them a realistic chance of qualification.Ethiopia head players at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani during a training session on October 13, 2018. As far as we are concerned we still know they are in the competition and we are still on the patch for qualification. It is not yet finished. We have two more games; at home against Ghana and away to Sierra Leone and I hope we can win,” the tactician said. The next round of qualification matches will be played next month. Ethiopia will play Ghana’s Black Stars at home while Kenya will square out with Sierra Leone in Nairobi.0Shares0000(Visited 3 times, 1 visits today)last_img read more

Sony Pictures expects huge jump in IPL viewership

first_imgHyderabad, Apr 6 (PTI) Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) is expecting a huge jump in viewership for this years edition of IPL T20 from last years approximate figure of 200 million put out by erstwhile rating mechanism of TAM.”To put it in perspective, media reports of last year suggested that on TAM, we had a viewership of approximately 200 million. This was when TAM was only monitoring urban India at around a 250 million base.TAM only monitored urban India and it has given way to a new rating mechanism of BARC (Broadcast Audience Research Council) that takes into account viewership in rural areas too.”BARC… the total base monitored is nearly three times of that. Definitely, there will be a huge surge in growth. At this point of time, it is difficult to predict what that number could be,” Prasana Krishnan, Executive Vice President and Business Head, Sports Cluster of SPN, told reporters here today. He did not discuss revenue aspects of the issue, but said it could roughly see a 15-20 per cent growth over last year.In the wake of the overwhelming response to the regional feeds last year, the network said the language feeds in Tamil, Telugu and Bengali would continue this year.As part of initiatives to bring in newer audiences, SPN will broadcast the matches in the local regional feed at the IPL “fan parks” that will be hosted across 35 cities in the country. The IPL T20 jamboree begins in Mumbai on April 9 with the first match being played between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants.
