Eight Weber State Football Standouts Named To All-Big Sky Preseason Squad, Including Former Manti High Star Jared Schiess

first_img Written by Brad James FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailFARMINGTON, Utah-Friday, Big Sky Conference virtual media day occurred from Thursday with the all-conference preseason squad announced.Eight Weber State Wildcats were announced to this squad with no Southern Utah University Thunderbirds named to the team.The Wildcats named to the squad include the following:-Former Manti High School star, defensive tackle Jared Schiess. In his senior season, Schiess has 4.5 career sacks, two career fumble returns, one forced fumble, 119 career tackles and 21.5 career tackles for a loss.-Senior offensive lineman Ben Bos-Senior offensive lineman Ty Whitworth-Junior tailback Josh Davis. The former Alta High School star has amassed 2,507 career scrimmage yards, including 2,498 rushing yards and 20 scores on the ground. Davis has exceeded 1,000 rushing yards in each season of his career playing NCAA FCS football.-Senior fullback Clay Moss. The former Jordan High School standout has run for 217 yards and two scores in his three seasons for the Wildcats to date.-Senior receiver Rashid Shaheed. The native of San Diego is a two-time All-American and Big Sky Conference honoree. Shaheed is most dangerous as a kick returner, having returned four kicks for scores during his career with the Wildcats. He has added 363 career punt return yards and run for two scores.Shaheed has 17 career touchdowns for Weber State. Of these, 11 have come on scoring receptions. The speedster has 1,218 career receiving yards on 86 grabs for the Wildcats.-Junior defensive end George Tarlas. Symmetrically, Tarlas has 11.5 career sacks and tackles for a loss apiece. He has added two career interceptions, five career passes defensed, three career pass breakups and 42 net tackles.The Boise, Idaho native also has one career run for 21 yards.-Sophomore cornerback Eddie Heckard. The Las Vegas native shares comparable symmetry to Tarlas with three career sacks and interceptions apiece. Heckard has added 10 career passes defensed, two forced fumbles and 6.5 tackles for a loss. Heckard also has 65 career tackles for the Wildcats.The conference preseason offensive MVP is Eastern Washington redshirt senior signal-caller Eric Barriere. Barriere is coming off of a 2019 campaign which saw him throw for 3,712 yards, 31 touchdowns and four interceptions.The Inglewood, Calif. native has thrown for 6,300 yards, 56 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while completing 60 percent of his passes for the Eagles.The conference preseason defensive MVP is Montana redshirt senior linebacker Jace Lewis. The native of Townsend, Mont. has seven career sacks, 19.5 career tackles for a loss, six career passes defensed, two career forced fumbles and 209 career tackles.
